What's a gasser? Technically speaking, it's just a class of racing car. Although it had to adhere to some of the simple rules laid out in the first legal drag races of all time, the traditional gasser was basically just a modified classic car that was built for speed!
A gasser had to be licensed for the street so that meant the professional drag racers of the 50s and 60s were likely to be seen speeding around town in their reworked, vintage cars!
The gasser class was created especially for the greasers back in the day to race their "hopped up" speed demons. They are known to have re-worked engines or mechanics, and can be characterized by their traditionally much larger wheel size.
