A Balance Bike, also known as a Run Bike, Running Bike or Wooden Bike, is a fantastic way for young kids to learn to ride a bicycle without training wheels.
Young children can learn to ride a balance bike within a matter of hours - sometimes minutes. They sit on the seat and push themselves along by walking or running with their feet.
And you won't believe your eyes - they are soon gliding and balancing perfectly on a two wheel bike with no training wheels!
Most young children have a natural sense of balance that is easily enhanced.
However, introducing training wheels prevents them from developing their natural balancing instinct. Instead, they depend on the training wheels.
Kids using training wheels have no opportunity to sense themselves balancing on their bikes so they don't tend to learn that skill. When it comes time to remove the training wheels, learning to ride the bike can often be a painful and scary process.
